You should have heard of the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL by now. You SHOULD have sacrificed your unworthy music collection on a fire/ebay too, if you've heard any of their music. Because The Eagles of Death Metal WILL blow you away... This wholesome-sounding band consists of Carlo Von Sexron doing his best Ringo impression alongside the dastardly guitarwork and vox of Jesse "The Devil" Hughes. Rex Everything plays bass on two of the songs!
The child prodigy and 'that guy with his fingers in all the musical pies', Josh Homme, takes the production credit on this dynamic experiment.
This is music to dance to, to fuck to; in short, to have a good time to. There has never been a better musical aphrodisiac...slip some EODM on at a party, and you're guaranteed a good night..
The EODM first made impromptu live appearances and showed up on the Desert Sessions Vol. 3&4 back in '98, with the additional talents of Chris Goss, Loo Balls, Craig Armstrong, and Tom Holton at various times, fusing cool samples, bluegrass guitar and stripper beats.
Another band, DEtHDEALER, came and went, leaving a dark, indelible stain…This was a guitar/drums duo headed up by Jesse, with Greg Saenz (Excel, Suicidal Tendencies, and The Dwarves) on drums.
Among the songs they played in the desert were the now legendary “Claw of Satan”, and some that went on to become EODM pieces. These songs and other Jesse demos were eventually heard by Carlo Von Sexron, who got his sober half in on it, and took over the now vacant drum stool. The Eagles of Death Metal were reformed and transformed – streamlined and unstoppable. Josh Homme signed them to his inimitable imprint, RekordsRekords, and, when he found time, produced a bunch of songs over a weekend which saw numerous rock stars stopping by the studio to hear history in the making...
And now they are ready to take over the world in the name of Satan, with the likes of Tim Van Hamel of Millionaire in tow!
